Panorex (Panoramic X-Ray)
A panorex is a two-dimensional dental X-ray that captures a complete view of both the upper and lower jaws in a single image. This advanced imaging technology allows dentists to see the entire mouth and surrounding structures quickly and comfortably.
The panoramic X-ray includes a detailed view of:
- All teeth, including impacted or developing teeth
- Upper and lower jawbones
- Multiple bones of the head and neck
- Temporomandibular joints (TMJ)
- Sinus areas
- Other critical anatomical structures
Because it provides a broad overview, a panorex helps detect problems that may not be visible during a routine dental exam. It is commonly used for treatment planning, evaluating wisdom teeth, preparing for dental implants, assessing orthodontic needs, and identifying infections or bone abnormalities.
The procedure is fast, non-invasive, and uses a low level of radiation, making it a safe and effective diagnostic tool for both adults and children.
